Overcome the World TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]” (John 16:33, AMP) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria When trials and tribulations come, as children of the Most High God, we can take courage; we can be confident, and we can have perfect peace. Why? Because perfect peace doesn’t come from the world. Courage doesn’t come from the world and neither does confidence. These things come from a relationship with Almighty God. We can have hope in challenging times because God has promised us victory. As long as we stay in fa...

I hate bullies! I can’t stand to see someone who seemingly has the upper hand take an unfair advantage of someone else. They make threats and cause havoc all because they think they can. I’ve noticed that, most of the time, a bully is all talk. They will make you think they are going to do something to you but it turns out they were just trying to scare you into believing they are more important than they really were. If anyone can give us insight into the adverse effects of giving in to a bully’s threats it would be Elijah. In 1 Kings 19 you’ll discover a man who has just been used by God to utterly destroy over 400 prophets of Baal. He was an ordinary man who did extraordinary things. But after this great victory he was suddenly caught in the grips of a paralyzing fear because of threats on his life by Jezebel. Always remember that the enemy won’t bother with anyone who is not doing something great for God. Have you ever felt life’s subtle and not so subtle threats? You...

Don’t Be Defined by the Limits of Others TODAY’S SCRIPTURE "Your word, LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens." (Psalm 119:89, NIV) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria Most people’s thoughts were programmed by the people who raised them or by what somebody spoke over them. Maybe they were good people, doing the best they can, but their words are limiting you. As long as you believe what they said about you, their words are defining you. The key to breaking those limitations is to start meditating on what God says about you. A transformation will take place when you renew your mind. Reprogram your thinking with what God says about you. God says, “The path of the righteous gets brighter and brighter.” All through the day say, “I’m rising higher. I haven’t seen my best days. Something good is going to happen to me.” As yo...

Break Out of Your Cocoon TODAY’S SCRIPTURE "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…" (Romans 12:2, NIV) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria On the inside of each one of us is a blessed, prosperous, victorious person. This person is free from addictions and bad habits, confident and secure in God. But just because that’s in you doesn’t mean it’s going to automatically come out. In today’s scripture, that word “transformed” in the original language is “metamorpho.” It’s where we get our word “metamorphose.” We know how a caterpillar metamorphoses into a butterfly. This is saying that if you meditate on God’s Word, then a transformation will take place. Think about the little caterpillar. It’s very plain, nothing really special about it. At a certain point, it forms a cocoo...

God Looks Beyond the Surface TODAY’S SCRIPTURE "The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." (1 Samuel 16:7, NIV) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria Your Creator can see things in you that other people cannot see. Sometimes people will try to push you down or make you feel insignificant. Sometimes our own thoughts will try to convince us that we don’t measure up. But God looks beyond the surface, beyond the mistakes you’ve made, beyond what somebody said about you and sees your incredible value. You may think, “Joel, I’ve messed up. I have blown it. I have failed. I’m all washed up.” No, God still sees more in you. God doesn’t just see what you are; He sees what you can become. You may have made some mistakes, but God still sees victory on the insid...

Stretch Further TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back...” (Isaiah 54:2, NIV) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria God doesn’t want you to just barely get by in life. He wants you to experience His abundance. He wants you to constantly be increasing. He wants you to be happy in your marriage. He wants you to enjoy your work. He wants you to be continually rising to new heights. If you’re in sales, God wants you to lead that company. If you’re an athlete, God wants you to set new records. If you’re a mom, God wants you to be the best mom that you can possibly be. We serve a big God with big plans for your future. Maybe some things haven’t worked out the way you thought they should because those plans were too small. Maybe it’s time to stretch yourself further and get a bigger visi...

Believe and Rest TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “For we who have believed do enter that rest...” (Hebrews 4:3, NKJV) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria God promises that there are set times in our future, but He doesn’t tell us when they will be. Your set time may be tomorrow morning at 9:47. You’ll get the phone call you’ve been waiting for. Your set time may be two years from now. You’ll get a good break that will thrust you to a new level. My question is, “Do you trust God enough to believe that your set times are coming?” Are you willing to wait with a good attitude? Are you willing to get a new perspective? Remember, that set time is already in your future. Don’t let the negative thoughts talk you out of it. The way you know that you’re really believing is when you have rest on the inside. You’re at peace. You know the answer is on the way. You t...

He’s Doing a Work in You TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “It is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:13, ESV) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria Some of the things you may be praying about, if God were to remove them right now, you wouldn’t be prepared for where He is taking you. You’ve got to let God do the work in you. In other words, be kind to the people who are not treating you right. Keep being your best even though you’re not getting the credit. Have a good attitude even though you’re in an apartment and all your friends are in a nice house. Pass those tests. Paul prayed in Colossians 3 that the people would have the strength to endure whatever came their way. He didn’t pray that God would deliver them instantly or remove the difficulty. He prayed that they would have the strength to go throu...

Are You A Reason, Season, or a Lifetime? People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime . When you figure out which one it is, you will know what to do for each person. When someone is in your life for a REASON , it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty; to provide you with guidance and support; to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend, and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on. Some people come into your life for a SEASON ...

Delight in Him TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4, AMP) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria Are you believing God for something that seems to be taking a long time? In the natural, you may have every reason to give up on what God has placed in your heart. At times, you may be tempted to get discouraged, but remember, God knows exactly where you are. He knows the desires He’s placed within you. He knows even the hidden dreams — what the scripture calls the secret petitions of your heart. Those are the things that you haven’t told anyone about. Maybe you thought they would never work out, or you’ve buried them because they didn’t happen on your timetable. But God still has a way to bring them to pass. Be encouraged today because God is work...

Be Transformed TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2, NIV) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria The word “transform” in the original Bible language is metamorpho. It’s where we get our word “metamorphosis.” When a caterpillar changes from a lowly worm into a beautiful butterfly, it is called a metamorphosis. The caterpillar starts out as possibly one of the most unattractive insects. It’s very plain, nothing special about it. But God destined the caterpillar to go through a transformation. It goes from being one of the most ordinary creatures to one of the most beautiful. It no longer has to crawl on the ground — it is transformed into a beautiful butte...

The Keys to Freedom TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.” (Revelation 1:18, NIV) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria Have you ever been locked out of your car or house? It can be very frustrating and inconvenient. Not having the right keys can keep you stuck and unproductive. It steals your time and can steal your peace and joy if you let it. On a spiritual level, we need keys to access what God has for us — eternal life, peace, freedom and blessing. But we don’t have to stand on the outside living in frustration. Jesus holds the keys, and He has opened the way for us to walk from death to life. We don’t have to live in defeat, mediocrity, sickness, sin or any kind of bondage any longer. We have access to the abundant life Jesus came to g...
