Disciplining a child is painful to a parent, when I was
younger my mother would say “this is going to hurt me more than it hurts you” before
she disciplined me….. I never knew what that meant until I had children of my
own….. However correction is needed from time to time, not abuse ….correction. Whether
it’s taking away the cell phone, video games etc. we must stand firm and know
that if we don’t correct bad behavior the behavior will only worsen.

being no discipline brings joy, but seems grievous and painful; but afterwards
it yields a peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by
it [a harvest of fruit which consists in righteousness—in conformity to God’s
will in purpose, thought, and action, resulting in right living and right
standing with God].
