As 2012 comes to an end, I am excited about the New Year that is being ushered in. I am open and ready to receive all that God has for me in 2013. I am excited about my future. I am overjoyed with how much God Loves me (he loves you too). Not looking back but looking forward. Pressing toward the mark, I am still a work in progress moving towards the goal getting ready for a higher stage and where there is progress there is possibility. The possibility to grow closer to The Almighty. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, don’t go back!! Keep moving, keep smiling, keep living, and keep pressing. At times it may not look good, it may not feel good but it is working for your good. I am a living witness. Be blessed and have a wonderful weekend Romans 8:28-39 New International Version (NIV ) 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those w...

How Long Did the Family Stay in Bethlehem? Samuel James Andrews The obvious difficulties connected with the traditional view of the coming of the wise men on the thirteenth day after the Lord's birth have led many to put it after the purification on the fortieth day. Some, holding that Jesus went immediately after that event to Nazareth, suppose that after a short time there He returned to Bethlehem and there was found by the wise men. But most who put the purification upon the fortieth day, make the visit of the Magi to have shortly followed, and prior to any departure to Nazareth. And this order seems best to harmonize the Scripture narratives. The language of Luke 2:22 , compared with verse 21 plainly intimates that, as the circumcision took place on the eighth day, so did the presentation on the fortieth. The feast of the Purification is observed by both Eastern and Western churches on February 2. Till this day, the mother was regarded as unclean and was to abide a...

Everlasting Father TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6, AMP) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, not only is your eternity secure, but you immediately become a child of the Most High God. You instantly have an Everlasting Father! Think about that word everlasting. That means before the beginning of time, the Father was there. He was waiting for you to accept Him and become a child of His. I can only imagine that God was anticipating that day just like a father would anticipate the birth of his child in the natural. I can imagine that each day He would think, “Is it today?” I don’t know wh...

He Collects Your Tears TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.” (Psalm 56:8, NLT) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria Do you know how important you are to God? He cares so much about every detail of your life. He cares about your thoughts, feelings and emotions. In fact, what you are going through is so important to Him that He records every sorrow and collects the tears you’ve shed. Why would God record your sorrows and collect your tears? Because everything that affects you matters to Him. He is your Vindicator. He’s keeping an account of every wrong that’s ever been done to you so that He can make up for every single one of them. ...

Perfect Love TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear...” (1 John 4:18, NIV) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria When unexpected things happen — trials, difficulty or tragedy — the enemy sends a whirlwind of fear to try to shake our faith and steal our focus. His goal is to take our eyes off of God and cause us to feel overwhelmed by circumstances. But if we will choose to stay focused on the love of God, if we choose to meditate on His goodness, the truth will set us free from fear and ground our hearts in confidence. Today, know that God loves you perfectly. He is a good God. Jeremiah 2...

A Person of Understanding TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “The purposes of a man’s heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out.” (Proverbs 20:5, NIV) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria Did you know that right now you are equipped with everything you need to fulfill your passion and purpose in this life? Everything you need is on the inside of you — like deep waters. God leads you and draws those things out of you when you stay open and humble before Him. You draw those things out when you are submitted to His Word. You draw them out by declaring His truth over your life. That’s what makes you a person of understanding — because you understand and apply God’s principles! Proverbs also tells us that a person of understanding de...

Beauty for Ashes TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “He will give: beauty for ashes; joy instead of mourning; praise instead of heaviness.” (Isaiah 61:3, TLB) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria Everyone has experienced hurt and disappointment. We’ve all been burnt by life. But God doesn’t want us to sit in the ashes of the past; He wants to trade our brokenness for healing. He wants to give us beauty for our ashes. The key is that we have to be willing to give up the ashes in order to receive the beauty. You can’t have both because the old has to go before the new can come. Today, are you willing to trust Him with your past hurts? Are you willing to let go of the pain, to forgive others and yourself so you can move forward in freedom? Don’t waste another day sitting in the ashes. The past is over, but your future remains. Let God give you joy instead of m...

He Still Has a Plan TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “ ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ ” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria The scripture tells us that without vision, people perish. If you don’t have a dream or vision for your life, then you’re not really going to reach your fullest potential. Maybe at one time you had a dream, but you went through some disappointments or setbacks. Things didn’t turn out the way you planned. But here’s a key: when one dream dies, dream another dream. Just because it didn’t work out the way you had it planned doesn’t mean that God doesn’t have another plan. You cannot allow one disappointment or even a series of disappointments to convince you that your dream is over. It’s time to dig your hea...

Don’t Get Stuck in the Past TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria The very moment we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we instantly become a new creation. Our spirits are made alive in Him, the old passes away, and His peace fills our hearts. Of course, everything in your life doesn’t change instantly. Some things do, but some things God will do in your life over time as you grow in your relationship with Him. The key is to keep moving forward in your spiritual journey one step at a time. Keep your eyes forward and don’t get stuck in the past. Today, remember, God is at work in your life. You may not be where you want to be. You may have made some mistakes o...

The Day You’ve Been Waiting For TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:19, NIV) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria Have you ever found yourself waiting for something? Waiting for that promotion? Waiting for that relationship? Waiting for a breakthrough? Waiting for something new? Well, I’ve got good news for you: I believe today is the day you’ve been waiting for! I believe God is doing a new thing for you today. Notice in today’s verse, the question is: Do you not perceive it? This tells me that God can be doing something in our lives, but if we are so focused on our circumstances, we can miss what God is doing. That’s why it’s so important to lift your eyes toward Him and declare His promises over your life. No...

Working All Things Together and Toward His Return BIBLE MEDITATION: “Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” - Philippians 1:6 DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: God has not promised you smooth sailing, but He has promised you a safe landing. He has a purpose in allowing every circumstance into your life. You can bank on this: He’ll see you to the shore in every storm of life. Andrew Murray said, “God is willing to assume the full responsibility for the life totally yielded to Him.” One of these days your destiny will be fulfilled. And soon and very soon, He is going to step down from the mountain of His glory, and the trumpet will sound. Our little ship will leave the sea of time, and immediately we’ll be on the shores of eternity. When He comes, He’s coming for you! He’s coming for me! First Thessalonians 4:16-18 tells us to comfort one another with these words of Christ’s return:...
